Il Costolo Amarone della Valpolicella 2017 – 750ml Supply

This is Vallena s flagship wine, marrying the traditions of fine Amarone to the unique character of one remarkable vineyard.  As with the regular Amarone, it s 55% Corvina, 25% Corvinone and 20% Rondinella dried in the sun and then aged two years in barrique and two years more in large Slavonian oak casks.

The final product is both richer than the regular Amarone and more vinous wine-like.  The flavors are all dried black fruits – fig, plum, cherry – plus layers of wild herb and dark chocolate. Super dense, but also somehow refreshing and highly drinkable, the wine flows like silk into a firmly chewy, youthful, finish. Decant for a couple of hours now or, better, hold and enjoy from 2025 onward. Terrific Amarone.
