The Domenico Clerico 2021 Barbera d Alba Trevigne offers extra fruit weight with blackberry, dark plum and spice. Winemaker Oscar Arrivabene says this is a very good year for Barbera. The wine feels lavish and soft over the palate, to pair with cheese-filled pasta. A high 15% alcohol content will help to break through the fat in that dish. Some 15,000 bottles were made.

Similar in appearance to the Dolcetto, the 2021 Barbera D Alba Trevigne is lush and luxurious, with toasted cedar, black plum, and new leather. Full-bodied, with a crunchy lift of acidity, it has sweet tannins and rounded fruit of boysenberry, mocha, and forest floor. It will benefit from another 6 months or so in bottle and can be enjoyed over the following 5-10 years.
